Alverta Lavon Hall, born Aug. 2, 1922, died March 31, 2013.

Alverta, 90, was born in Troy, Idaho, to Ida Thompson Dalberg and Lewis Dalberg. She lived a happy, neighbor-visiting, baby-loving childhood there, with her four brothers and one sister, all older than she. She married James E. Wells in 1938 at age 16, but still finished high school before becoming a mom. They had four children, Mike, Pat, Jana and Lana, and divorced after 10 years. In 1951, she married Earl Hall, to whom she remained married until his death in 2006, 55 years later. Alverta died in Longmont, Colo.

Living much of her life in Moscow, Idaho, where her four children were born, Alverta and family also lived for a time in the village of Hopton in East Anglia, England, in the 1950s, while Earl was stationed in England with the Air Force. Like most people who passed through Alverta's life, friends in England remained so for her entire life.

Alverta and Earl came to Longmont in 1961, after giving Detroit a try and missing the pine trees and mountains of the West. Alverta worked at many different companies, from the Daily Times-Call to the Ball Company to becoming a salesperson for Hamilton Investment Company.

She and Earl enjoyed an active family and social life for many years, bowling and playing cards and having the grandchildren over constantly. "Grandma's pantry" is a memory all the grandchildren have and hold dear, and Grandma's love was enjoyed by all 12 of them.

She leaves behind her four children, Mike (Molly) of Boise, Idaho, Pat (Sheila) of Moscow, Idaho, Jana Mendez (Max Condiotti) and Lana (Rich) Lathrop of Longmont. In addition, there are 12 grandchildren Jeff Wells (Lanette), Teresa Rebillet (Rusty), Jim Wells (Deana), Greg Wells (Merri), Joanie Salisbury, Jeanne Lindhorst (Britt), Amy Mendez (Chris Ortiz), Jennifer Mendez (Ryan Forehand), Chris Mendez (Liz), Jason Lathrop (Kassia), Jamie Lathrop (Jeff Bruce) and Jon Lathrop (Jenny). Also she is mourned by 33 great-grandchildren from California, Idaho, Massachusetts and Colorado. Alverta also was happy to be a great-great grandmother to five.

Alverta was a joy and light in this world. She never knew a person she disliked or found fault with. She accepted people as they are and always found something to love in each and every one. She lived her life in pure love - including her last years at the Peaks Care Center, in both assisted living and nursing care, where she is missed by the wonderful staff who loved her and treated her as though she were THEIR mother.

Alverta was predeceased by her brothers Lowell, Virgil, Rowland and Donald Dalberg; her sister, Marcelyn Wilson, her grandson-in-law Lance Melting; and her great-granddaughters, Ashli Salisbury and Jada Halsey-Mendez.

Private family memorials will be held. Visit www. ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to share condolences.
