Annette Verschaeve of Albion, Wash., passed away on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, following a complication from surgery at University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake, in Seattle.
She had a zest for life and was always ready to ask questions and get to know the people around her, even at the grocery store or post office. She had a curious nature and an enormous heart. She loved her human family wholeheartedly and her fur babies perhaps even more than that. She was never without at least a couple of pets.
The daughter of a U.S. Air Force officer, she moved to many places during her formative years and expressed often how those experiences and the people she met along the way contributed strongly to who she would become. She lived in Arizona, South Dakota, England, Illinois, New Mexico, Italy and Washington state, where she graduated from Washington State University and promptly fell in love with a local (Keith Russell) and settled on the Palouse to help raise two kids.
She had the absolute best laugh and was most proud when bringing joy to others — which sometimes included homemade huckleberry pie. If you are taking the time to read this, she would want to know your life story and find a way to brighten your day.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Yelm United Methodist Church, 408 Second St. S.E., in Yelm.
Annette’s place of rest will be at the Enumclaw Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery (interment will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, April 12).
