Gary Alan Lange

Gary A. Lange, 65, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023. He was born Dec. 2, 1957, in Chicago, Ill., the second son to Marvin and Lorraine Lange.

After high school, he moved to Vancouver, Wash., and received his associate degree from Clark College where he met the love of his life for 42 years, Janice Sease.

Married on the Oregon coast, Gary and Janice grew their family to include three children, two daughters and a son, whom they primarily raised in Moscow. During his time on the Palouse, Gary attended both Washington State University and the University of Idaho, eventually graduating with a master’s degree in counseling and human services. He served his community for over 30 years as a mental health and substance abuse counselor. Much of his free time was spent doing volunteer work with marriage ministries, serving the homeless and advocating for the mental health needs within his hometown.

After raising their children on the Palouse, Gary and Janice resided in Oregon, Wyoming, Alaska and Washington. Embracing travel, they visited the United Kingdom and spent a few magical months exploring Italy and immersing themselves in Italian culture, history and food. Throughout his life, Gary loved animals, music, photography and history, but the ultimate joy of his life was raising his family. Gary’s life will forever be a testament of dedication to his community, family, wife and God. His legacy of devotion will remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to love and know him.

Gary is survived by his wife, Janice Lange; children, Justin, Ashley and April; brother, Don Lange; and uncle, Richard Lange. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lorraine. He will be dearly missed and loved forever.

A celebration of life will be held between 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, at East City Park in Moscow, at the main pavilion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Union Gospel Mission at uniongospelmission.org or to India Partners at indiapartners.org in memory of Gary Lange.
