V. Joyce Anderson, 87, of Hamilton, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Marcus Daly Hospital. She was born Dec. 29, 1925, in Winchester, Idaho, the daughter of the late Clarence William and Olga Joy (Bartlett) Hanson.
She was raised in Craigmont, Idaho. She graduated from Craigmont High School in 1943. She graduated with honors from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, with a B.A. in journalism. During World War II, she worked at Fort George Wright in Spokane. Later she worked as a reporter for the daily newspaper in Blackfoot, Idaho, and then as an administrative assistant for the College of Agriculture at the University of Idaho.
She was a past worthy matron and 50-year member of Liberty Chapter 51 Order of the Eastern Star in Shelley, Idaho.
She married Alton D. Anderson in 1948. They later divorced.
She is survived by three children, Dean (Sherry) Anderson of Moscow, Nancy Anderson of Hamilton and Bill (Wendy) Anderson of Noti, Ore.; three grandsons, Christian M. Renoux of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Cedar Breeze of Eugene, Ore., and Filbert Anderson of Noti, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister and best friend, Laurette (Hanson) Trautman.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at Beehive Homes at 842 New York Ave. in Hamilton. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be scattered next summer according to her wishes.
