Kristine Louise Hatley Alvarez Delos Santos, 73, of Pullman, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 5, 2024. Born Oct. 5, 1950, in Omaha, Neb., to Margaret (Baker) Hatley, Kris spent her formative years in Pullman, graduating from Pullman High School in 1968.
Kris pursued a career in nursing at Tacoma General Nursing School in Tacoma, where she met her future husband, Frank Alvarez Delos Santos, on a blind date. The couple married on Jan. 30, 1970, at McCord Air Force Base, Wash. After completing her nursing education, Kris worked as a registered nurse in hospital emergency rooms and a nursing home, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to caring for others.
Throughout her life, Kris and her family moved frequently due to Frank’s military career, raising their five children across various locations. In 2007, Kris and Frank returned to Pullman to care for her mother, Margaret, and to embrace the beauty of the Palouse region, which she loved dearly.
Kris was a woman of many talents and interests, including photography, crafting, scrapbooking and sewing. An accomplished seamstress, her creative spirit was evident in everything she did. Above all, Kris was devoted to her family, cherishing every moment spent with her loved ones. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she was an active member of the Colfax Church of the Nazarene.
Kris is survived by her loving husband, Frank, their two sons, three daughters, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her sister Elisa. She was preceded in death by her parents, D.C. and Margaret Hatley.
