Brett Edward Line
Brett Edward Line

Brett Edward Line, Albion, Wash., resident, passed away at his home Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, surrounded by family. He fought a brief but valiant fight against cancer. Brett was 48. He was the youngest of three boys born to William Edward and Karol Ann (Green) Line. He was born Aug. 11, 1965, in Pullman and grew up in the Pullman-Albion area. He attended Pullman High School and was active in sports until an injury to his knee kept him from competing.

Brett was always a hard worker and started work in the carpentry trade at a relatively young age. He spent many years working around the Pullman area for KIP Development. He did all sorts of construction projects with the firm but was most noted for his finish carpentry skills. He was very meticulous when it came to his job. He married Dori Emerson in 1995 and their marriage would later end in divorce. Brett loved to cook and was somewhat of a self-taught chef. In 2000 he changed career directions and became an international chef for Washington State University in the food services department. He was still employed there in June when he received the diagnosis that would become his biggest battle. Brett didn't let the cancer define who he was. He had a much broader definition of who he was.

Brett loved blues music and twice every year he thoroughly enjoyed attending "Blues Fest" at Sun Banks Lake near Grand Coulee, Wash. He also bowled in league play for many years at Leisure Lanes, which were owned by his grandparents. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Pullman. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Most of all, Brett enjoyed spending time with family and friends whether at his home with neighbors close by or out camping with his brothers and their families.
