Ronald Emery Trautman passed away Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 21, at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Lewiston. He was born Nov. 6, 1944, in Colfax, to Emery Joseph Trautman and Laurette L. Hanson Trautman-Fisher. He grew up in Moscow, graduating from Moscow High School in 1963. Ronald served in the U.S. Army from January 1964 to January 1967 with tours in Korea and Vietnam. He was in the military police, and left the service with the rank of E-4 and with a combat service medal. He married Donna Walker in 1971 in Kamiah. They divorced in 1972. Ronald lived his adult life in Clarkia, Idaho, and Clarkston. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a communicant of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clarkston at the time of his death. He enjoyed spending time with friends at the "local watering hole." Ronald is survived by a daughter, Janice Tucker; two granddaughters; four brothers, Larry Trautman of Spokane, David Trautman of Lewiston, Mike Trautman and Ken Trautman, both of Spokane; three sisters, Marcia Hendren of Genesee, Gloria Luther and Mary Edwards of Moscow. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin brothers, Richard and Robert Trautman; grandparents, Clarence (Skinny) and Olga Hanson and Joseph and Mary Ann Trautman. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at St. Mary's Church in Moscow. Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home in Lewiston is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Idaho State Veterans Home in Lewiston or Saint Mary's Elementary School in Moscow. "Good night and God bless you, Ron."
