Warren 'Bud' Edward Chadbourne, 6

Warren "Bud" Edward Chadbourne of St. Maries, Idaho, went to heaven Aug. 20, 2014. He was born Jan. 9, 1948, in Caldwell, Idaho, to Melvin and Maye Chadbourne. Bud graduated from Vallivue High School in Caldwell in 1966. He graduated from the University of Idaho with a bachelor of music degree in 1971 and master's degree in music in 1973. He was married to Joyce Chadbourne for 43 years.

After graduating from high school, Bud attended the University of Idaho. As a freshman, he earned the distinct honor of acceptance into the university's Vandaleer choir. During his junior year, he started getting to know fellow UI student Joyce Franklin at a church function. She became his wife on Dec. 19, 1970.

Bud and Joyce moved to Arco, Idaho, to begin their teaching careers. They lived there for two years before making St. Maries their home. Bud taught band, choir and elementary music to high school, middle school and elementary school students in St. Maries, Fernwood, and Avery. His teaching career spanned 39 years.

During that time, Bud and Joyce welcomed two children into their home. Richard was born in 1974, and Natasha joined them in 1977.

Some of Bud's hobbies included woodworking, hunting, photography, leather crafting, model train collecting and rooting for the Green Bay Packers. He conducted community choirs, led music in church, played in the community band and coached Bible quizzing. For several years Bud had fun displaying model train scenes to entertain trick-or-treaters, and he was a member of the Inland Empire S-Gauge Association train club.

Bud Chadbourne had a lot to be proud of in his life. In 2009, he was inducted into the Idaho Music Educators' Hall of Fame. He served on the St. Maries City Council. He invested in and influenced countless family, friends and students. But most importantly, he served Jesus Christ.

Bud is survived by his wife Joyce Chadbourne of St. Maries; his daughter, Natasha Chadbourne of Antioch, Tenn.; his sister, Melvalene Dow and her husband Dwight of Puyallup, Wash; his sister, Gracie Chad of Puyallup; his mother-in-law, Oveta Franklin of Moscow; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Pastor Jim and Nancy Franklin of Nampa, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Maye Chadbourne; his son, Richard Chadbourne; and his father-in-law, Arthur Franklin.

A memorial service will be held for Bud Chadbourne at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at the St. Maries Church of the Nazarene.
