TROY — The Troy Trojans remained unbeaten, but were tested by Prairie of Cottonwood in a 2A Whitepine League volleyball home match with a final scoreline of 25-21, 25-20, 24-26, 25-17 on Tuesday.

Troy, which has gone 12-0 counting best-of-three set tournament matches and is now 6-0 in league, was led by Tessa Stoner with 21 kills. Emma Wells served 24-for-26 from the service line with four aces for the Trojans.

“Prairie really made it tough for us,” Troy coach Deborah Blazzard said. “They extended plays really well.”

Loggers rout Rams

POTLATCH — The unbeaten Loggers topped Clearwater Valley of Kooskia 25-14, 25-20, 25-12 in 2A Whitepine League play.

Potlatch (3-0, 3-0) trailed 17-8 in the second frame before Emma Patten “served us back into the set,” according to coach Ron Dinsmoor. Patten finished the night with a 15-for-15 serving mark including three aces and provided 18 assists. Aubree Lisher (eight kills, four aces) and Kathryn Burnette (six kills, three aces) also made major contributions for the victorious Loggers. The Rams dropped to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in league.

JV — Potlatch def. Clearwater Valley 2-0.

Kubs nip Knights in five

MOSCOW — The Kamiah Kubs survived a five-set battle with host Logos in a Class 2A Whitepine League contest.

The final scoreline read 25-27, 25-18, 25-17, 20-25, 15-9.

Addison Skinner had 20 assists and nine kills for Kamiah (2-2, 2-2), while Emma Krogh added 18 kills, and freshman middle blocker Audrey Puckett made 4 blocks.

“Exciting match,” Kamiah coach Jackie Landmark said. “Lots of excitement from the crowd. Hard-fought games. Kamiah showed perseverance at the end.”

The loss dropped the Knights’ record to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in league play.

Genesee remains unbeaten

NEZPERCE — Genesee went on the road and rolled past the host Nighthawks 25-19, 25-11, 25-11 in a Class 1A Whitepine League match.

Chloe Grieser was a perfect 22-of-22 from the service line with eight aces for the Bulldogs (4-0, 3-0). Makayla Herman had 12 kills.

“First actual road game,” Genesee coach Pete Crowley said. “Good night for us to get it done 3-0 against a good Nezperce team.”

Deary wins in straight sets

DEARY — The Mustangs stayed unbeaten in Class 1A Whitepine League competition with a 25-16, 25-9, 25-11 victory against Highland of Craigmont.

Madelyn Proctor had six kills for Deary (3-1, 3-0) and Kyleigh Eastman provided 10 assists.

“Came off a rough loss to Kendrick last night,” Deary coach Brooke Swanson said. “My girls really stepped up and changed their mindset.”

Pirates poach Timberwolves

POMEROY — In a Southeast 1B League season debut that coach Adam Van Vogt called a “clean” performance with a minimum of errors, host Pomeroy handled Tekoa-Rosalia 25-14, 25-11, 25-20.

Taylor Gilbert (nine kills) and Olivia Cooper (eight digs) were stat leaders for the victorious Pirates (2-0, 1-0), while Cooper, Haven Kimble and Hollie Van Vogt combined to serve 50-for-51.

Wildcats win catfight

KENDRICK — Visiting Lapwai turned back a rally from 2A Whitepine League rival Kendrick to claim its first win of the season.

The scoreline read 25-20, 25-13, 24-26, 25-14 in favor of the Wildcats (1-2, 1-2), who benefited from 14 kills by Skylin Picard and 19 assists from Leilani Ellenwood in the process. The Tigers slipped to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in league.

JV — Kendrick def. Lapwai.

Timberline sweeps past Asotin

ASOTIN — Timberline of Weippe earned a straight set victory over nonleague foe Asotin.

The Spartans won by set scores of 25-18, 28-26, 25-15.

“We did not let very many balls hit the floor,” Timberline coach Brittany Rose said. “Incredible effort tonight.”

Jazlyn Amarillas led Timberline (3-2) with 11 kills. MaKadee Larson had 18 assists and Hailey Rodgers had six aces.

Kierra Nielson and Hannah Appleford had five kills each for Asotin (0-1)

Eagles soar over North Idaho

PULLMAN — Hannah Anderson posted a rare hitting efficiency mark of .538 to lead the Pullman Christian Eagles as they topped North Idaho Christian (Coeur d’Alene) 25-15, 25-11, 25-15 in Mountain Christian League play.

Sophia Cofer was not far behind as she hit .500 while Braeley Olson fired eight aces for Pullman Christian (3-2, 2-2).

Colfax opens the season with a win

COLFAX — The host Bulldogs opened the season with a 25-21, 25-19, 25-20 home victory against Upper Columbia Academy of Spangle, Wash.

Bantams lose at home

The Clarkston Bantams lost a nonleague contest to University (Spokane) 25-21, 25-20, 25-14 at home.

Reese DeGroot had nine kills and three aces for Clarkston (0-2).

Roxie Rogers had 29 digs and Hayley Barnea added eight assists.

Bengals bested by Hawks

Making its 5A Inland Empire League season debut, host Lewiston suffered a hard-fought 25-22, 17-25, 25-11, 25-23 defeat to Lakeland of Rathdrum.

The Bengals (5-2, 0-1) still managed 61 team digs as they put on what coach Halle White called an “excellent defensive show.”

Brooke Bernal (14 digs), Jordynn Albright (seven kills, four blocks) and Emery McKarcher (28 assists, 11 digs) were key leaders for the Lewiston effort.

Pullman loses opener

SPOKANE — Pullman dropped its season opener 25-19, 25-18, 25-18 on the road against 2A Greater Spokane League for Shadle Park of Spokane.

Jasmyne Washington led the Greyhounds with six kills, while teammate Camber Wolfe had 15 assists and two aces.

Colton drops league opener

DAYTON, Wash. — The Colton Wildcats opened the season with a five-set loss to the Dayton Bulldogs in a Southeast 1B League contest.

Pullman 133, Clarkston 36

PULLMAN — In a 2A Greater Spokane League dual, Pullman fielded the top finisher in every event contested en route to victory over Clarkston.

Bree Myers (50-yard freestyle, 100 backstroke), Catalina Donolo (200 free, 500 free), Kiara Donolo (200 free, 200 individual medley) and Hazel Edge (100 free, 100 breaststroke) were the Hounds’ individual event winners and also participated in first-place relays, with Maile Sandberg (200 medley relay) and Keira Frichette (400 free) providing additional legs.

WSU’s Johansson wins Evans Invite

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. — Alice Johansson of Washington State shot a second straight round of 4-under 68 to win the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational at the Champions Trace Golf Course.

Johansson beat Kirstin Angosta of TCU by one stroke for the individual title. The sophomore from Bollnas, Sweden, rallied from six strokes back after the opening round.

As a team, WSU finished sixth in the 11-team field with a score of 894.

LCSC opens with top-three finishes

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The Lewis-Clark State men finished second and the women were third at the season-opening Bushnell Invitational at the Pine Ridge Golf Club.

Oscar Behle (T5), Alex Navarro (T8) and Kye Krall (T10) finished in the top ten for the Warrior men. L-C’s team score of 894 was 30 strokes behind winner No. 6 British Columbia.

The Warrior women shot a team score of 658. No. 2 British Columbia finished at 603 to claim the title. Lewis-Clark State’s Isabella Barquet shot a second consecutive round of 8-over 80 to tie for ninth among individuals.

Battle of the Bridges tickets on sale

Tickets for the annual Battle of the Bridges rivalry football game between Lewiston and Clarkston are on sale now through Friday at both the Lewiston High School and Clarkston High School offices.

This year’s game will be held at Clarkston on Friday at 7 p.m. Tickets will also be available at the gate, which opens at 5:45, but early purchases are encouraged to alleviate wait times. They cost $10 for adults, $5 for CHS and LHS students who present their ASB cards, and $5 for senior citizens.
