PULLMAN — Lewis-Clark State had seven national standards, Washington State had 23 first-place finishes and Idaho won six events Saturday at the Cougar Classic track and field meet on the Washington State campus.
The Warriors’ Carter Gordon ran the second-best men’s 800-meter time in the NAIA this season at the meet (10 minutes, 52.62 seconds). He finished third in the event.
LCSC’s Sydnie Zywina won the women’s triple jump with a distance of 39 feet, 5 inches. Trenton Johnson won the men’s triple jump (41-01 3/4) and Brycen Brown took first in the 3,000 steeplechase (9:54.06).
For Washington State, Maribel Caicedo lowered the Cougars’ school record and the Ecuadorian national record in the women’s 100 hurdles, finishing in 12.85.
Another WSU record fell in the women’s pole vault, with Eva Lowder winning with a mark of 13-11 3/4.
Idaho’s Jake Hisaw won the men’s 400, crossing the finish line in 48.26, and Justyn Rogers won the men’s long jump with a distance of 23-03 1/4.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Charlie Updegrave homered twice to help give the Warriors a Cascade Conference doubleheader sweep against the Thunderbirds at Thunderbird Park.
Starter Shane Spencer earned the win for Lewis-Clark State (30-9, 16-3) in Game 1. He went 8 2/3 innings in his outing and struck out eight batters. Cam Smith got the final out of the game and earned his fifth save of the season.
In Game 2, reliever Jace Hanson earned the win for the Warriors. He took the mound in the fourth inning and pitched 5 1/3 with six strikeouts.
Updegrave totaled three hits across the doubleheader, including a double on top of his two home runs. Jake Gish, Dominic Signorelli and Nick Seamons also all had home runs during the twinbill.

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Cougars scored first, but the No. 19 Wildcats ran away with the win in a Pac-12 Conference game.
The lone run for WSU (18-9, 7-13) came when Cole Cramer singled through the right side to score Joey Kramer in the top of the fourth.
Arizona (23-14, 12-5) matched it with a run in the bottom of the frame and took the lead for good with two more in the fifth.
Maddox Mihalakis had three hits and three RBI to lead the Wildcats.
WSU starter Connor Wilford (3-5) struck out seven batters but absorbed his fifth loss of the season. Clark Candiotti (4-1) earned the win for Arizona.
