The third annual Lauren McCluskey Twilight track and field dual saw split results with the Pullman boys (95 points) and Moscow girls (84) each claiming team victories on Friday at Pullman High School.
The event honors late Pullman High School grad Lauren McCluskey and is sponsored by the Lauren McCluskey foundation.
The Greyhounds swept the top two spots in both the boys and girls 800-meter events. Peter Jobson and Evan Anderson took the top two spots in the boys and Ada Harris and Alison Hathaway took the top two spots in the girls.
Anderson set a personal record with a time of 2 minutes, 6.24 seconds. It was also the first time Anderson competed in the 800.
Pullman’s Alexander Wheatley took first place in the boys 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles.
The Bears took the top three spots in the girls shot put. Leyna Venzke won the event with a season-best of 31 feet, 5½ inches. The Moscow girls also swept the top three spots in the high jump and Jessa Skinner took first in the triple jump.
Kieran Long and Jason Swam took first and second in the boys 3,200 with times of 10:23.10 and 10:41.82, respectively.
“Overall both teams competed tremendously,” Pullman coach Colin Briggs said. “It’s really nice to see that competitive competition between the Moscow and Pullman cities. We love our Hounds and we love our Bears, for sure.”
Mattea Nuhn of Moscow dashed to wins in the girls’ 100 hurdles in 16.01 and the 300 hurdles in 47.42.
She also cleared 5 feet in the high jump to win that event.

Logos girls win Glenn Wolf Invite
CHATTAROY, Wash. — Logos of Moscow’s Sara Casebolt and Lizzie Crawford earned first and second place in the girls 800 to help lead the Knights’ girls team to a first-place finish with 90 points at the Glenn Wolf Invite at Riverside High School.
Casebolt registered a time of 2:23.48 in the 800 and Crawford had a time of 2:30.06.
Casebolt also won the 1,600 and the Logos team of Emily Bowen, Bethany Porras, KatieBeth Monjure and Elizabeth Evans won the 800 relay race.
Samantha Pfaff of Garfield-Palouse won the the girls high jump with a height of 4-10.
Troy’s Jackson Marone took second place in the boys 100 with a time of 11.51.

COLTON — The Pirates’ Ollie Severs threw a no-hitter and had six hits and Gunner Magill had six hits in a Southeast 1B doubleheader sweep against the Wildcats.
Pomeroy (8-2, 5-0) put up 11 runs in the top of the fifth inning of Game 1 to secure the mercy-rule win. In Game 2, Trace Roberts allowed just two hits and and the Pirates let up just one run to Colton, which game in the top of the fifth.
Severs and Roberts earned the win in Games 1 and 2, respectively, for Pomeroy. Severs had two doubles and Roberts had a double and a triple.
Colton (0-6, 0-5) got three singles from three different batters in Game 2.

COLTON — The Wildcats had five total home runs, including two from Kiya Soza, en route to a Southeast 1B doubleheader sweep against the visiting Pirates.
Colton (5-1, 5-1) put at least three runs in the first four innings in Game 1 before the game was ended after the top half of the fifth due to mercy rule Soza had both her home runs in the matinee.
In Game 2, the Wildcats were up 11-3 after the top of the fourth before capping off the game with a nine-run inning in the bottom of the frame. Meredith Bell hit her second home run of the day in the nightcap.
Hannah Bagby led Pomeroy (1-8, 0-4) on the day with four hits, including a home run in Game 2.

SAN FRANCISCO — Washington State was led with a 5-over 145 from Ben Borgida through the second round of The Goodwin at TPC Harding Park.
Borgida’s score ties him for 53rd — 84 places better than his Day 1 total .
The Cougars stood at 24th place out of 31 teams through Day 2 of the tournament. The team had a 25-over 585.

Idaho earned a win in No. 2 doubles and pushed No. 3 doubles to 13 games but lost the overall point.
Gay won his No. 1 singles match in tough-fought 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 win. Kurata also won a competitive affair in No. 2 singles — a 7-6, 6-3 win.
