SPOKANE — Parker Huber hit a home run and a double as the Colfax High baseball team, the South champion of the Northeast 2B League, bumped its mark to 17-1 on the year with an 8-4 win over the North’s top dog, St. George’s, in a nonleague meeting on Friday.

Also pitching, Huber fanned six over four innings.

GENESEE — The Geneseee Bulldogs split a Whitepine League doubleheader with Clearwater Valley, with the Rams winning the opener 6-5 and Genesee winning the nightcap 18-15.

Both teams piled on the errors, with Clearwater Valley committing 12 and Genesee 10.

The Bulldogs (9-5, 9-2) had a chance to win the first game, leaving the tying run stranded on second.

Kaiden Hall, Cameron Olson, Cody Isbelle and Jose Barajas strung together some timely hits for Orofino, which beat Moscow in a nonleague game. All four of thse players finished with two RBI.

The Maniacs (4-10) were led on the mound by Wyatt Roy, who turned in five solid innings, and Hall, who came on in the fifth to hold off any attempted comeback from the Bears.

GRANGVILLE — Courtney Burt hit a home run in the opening inning of Genesee’s nonleague game against Grangeville, leading to three runs batted in and a win for the Bulldogs. The win continues Genesees’ 13-game winning streak.

Mikacia Bartosz pitched a compete-game shutout for the Bulldogs (9-0, 13-1) with 12 strikeouts.

The game ended after six innings due to time constraints.

Pullman advances eight

SPOKANE — Eight of the 10 Pullman boys’ tennis players to enter the 73rd annual Inland Empire Tournament advanced to the second day of competition, as the pairing of Quinn Bankhead and Ravi Lin reached the semifinals in No. 3 doubles while Jake Pru (No. 1 singles), Om Sahaym (No. 2 singles), Tim Watts and Casey Crow (No. 1 doubles), and Henry Ward and Sasha Wood (No. 2 doubles) advanced in their events’ consolation brackets.

GOLF

Moscow’s Rauch wins

HAYDEN, Idaho — Makena Rauch led Moscow at the Coeur d’Alene Invitational at Avondale Golf Course, winning the girls competition with a score of 69. It marks her fourth tourney win of the season.

Five Lewiston girls scored in the 90s, giving the Bengals third place overall with a score of 380.

Eric Martin of Pullman led boys from area schools with a 78, finishing 8-over par.
