East Valley 2, Pullman 1
Anne Mari Petrino gave Pullman its first lead of the season, but it wasn't quite enough as the Greyhounds fell to East Valley 2-1 in Thursday's Great Northern League contest in Pullman.
"For a long time, it was the only shot we had, but at least it counted," Hounds coach Doug Winchell said. "It was very encouraging because we are making progress, but it was still frustrating because we're still not over the hump."
Pullman keeper Becca Wiccard missed what Winchell called a "routine save" as East Valley knotted things up in the 21st minute, but played brilliantly after that. Cicely Warnick played in the net in the second half and stopped a penalty kick before allowing a goal slip by.
"Both of our keepers played quite well under pressure," Winchell said. "East Valley's second goal was just perfectly placed. There was nothing we could do about it."
