Paradise Creek has reached flood stage in Moscow and homes are beginning to flood.
The flood stage for Paradise Creek is 9.2 feet. As of 6 p.m. the water level was at 9.74 feet, according to the National Weather Service.
As of 6:45 p.m., water levels were so high that Hordemann Pond and Paradise Creek appeared to be one of body of water. Homes on D Street and others near Paradise Creek were also flooding as of that time.
Several intersections and roadways are closed throughout Moscow, especially low-lying areas; parts of North Washington Street and A Street are closed, as well parts of U.S. Highway 95, North Polk Extension, Paradise Path and other streets and intersections.
Much of the flooding is occurring in northeastern Moscow.
According to the NWS, Latah County will likely receive a third of an inch to a half an inch of rain tonight.
The Palouse River is also expected to reach flood stage. The river floods at about 15 feet. As of 6:45 p.m. the water level was at 14.3 feet.
For the Palouse River, the stage was 13.8 feet at 2:45 p.m. It is expected to crest near 15.9 feet by early Wednesday and fall below flood stage by tomorrow afternoon.
At 15 feet, extensive flooding of the low-lying areas between Potlatch and Palouse will occur.
Flooding will occur at the Lions Club Community Park and Hayton-Greene Park in Palouse at this stage. South River Road will likely be flooded where it crosses the Palouse River at Wellesley Road west of Potlatch. The Potlatch softball and baseball fields will also start to flood.
At 16.5 feet, water will be up to the back door at the city shop in Palouse and will approach the home on Main Street near Hayton-Greene Park.
