Local public health officials have confirmed a measles infection in a Whitman County child.

Whitman County Public Health is advising individuals to check their children’s and their own vaccination status to verify they are up-to-date with the measles, mumps, rubella vaccine.

Before receiving the measles diagnosis, the child was at Play & Learn, 10-11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3 at the Colfax branch of the Whitman County Library and at the Book Fair on Thursday, Feb. 9 at L.M. Jennings Elementary School in Colfax. Anyone who was at the same locations was possibly exposed to measles.

If an individual is experiencing symptoms of measles (high fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes or a rash) should contact their health care provider.
