Moscow & Pullman Building Supply is closing its “super store” in Pullman at the end of November.

The home-improvement retailer has been in Pullman since 1996 and opened its present location at 400 S.E. Fairmont Road near Walmart in 2015.

The Pullman location has a 40,000-square-foot retail store carrying products such as hardware, clothing and household appliances, as well as an 80,000-square-foot warehouse. Its last day is expected to be Nov. 30.

“We are challenged by the reality that the market demand for a (Pullman Building Supply) like facility does not exist to a sustainable extent,” according to a news release from Moscow & Pullman Building Supply.

A large volume of merchandise will be substantially discounted at Pullman Building Supply before it closes, according to the news release that states the business has gratitude to Pullman for its “unwavering support” of its Washington store.

“This decision was not made lightly, but after careful evaluation of our operations over the last decade combined with changes in the market and future economic forecasts, it is clear to us, we need to make this difficult decision in efforts to position (our company) for long-term success,” according to the news release.

The Moscow location at 760 N. Main St. will remain open and fully operational, according to the news release. The store has a 28,000-square-foot showroom and a 65,000-square-foot covered drive-through lumber yard.

Moscow Building Supply opened in 1958 and is still owned by members of the same family who founded it.

“As we shift our focus to our flagship store, we are dedicated to evolving and maintaining the high standards of service and product availability that define our reputation,” according to the news release.
