UPDATED AT 8:56 P.M.:

Wayland Savage was taken into custody by the Pullman Police Department at about 8 p.m. this evening, according to a Facebook update from the Moscow Police Department.Savage had walked away from a job site on the UI campus earlier in the day.No other details were immediately provided.

UPDATED AT 8:08 P.M.:

Wayland Savage, the inmate who is at large, doesn't have any known ties to the Moscow area but is known to have connections in Boise and Montana, according to a city of Moscow news release. Savage was a member of an Idaho Department of Correction work crew tasked with cleaning the Theophilus Tower Dormitory at the time he walked away. 

Savage was incarcerated as a minimum-security inmate for burglary and grand theft, and has no known history of violence, according to the news release.

It is now safe to return to Theophilus Tower, according to a Moscow police Facebook update, after authorities did an "exhaustive search" of that building and others in the area.

But Wayland Savage, the inmate who walked away from a job site on the University of Idaho campus on Tuesday afternoon, still hasn't been located.

Savage is described as a 34-year-old, white, heavy-set male who is 6 feet, 2 inches tall. Anyone with information about Savage’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Moscow Police Department at (208) 882-2677.

UPDATED AT 7:30 P.M.

The Moscow Police announced they have received information that indicates Savage stole a black Idaho Vandals T-shirt that reads "silver gold vibes only" and changed before leaving the job site today, according to a Facebook post from the Moscow Police Department.

An "exhaustive search" was performed at Theophilus Tower and other campus buildings in the area by MPD, with assistance from the Pullman Police Department, Latah County Sheriff's Office, Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, k-9 units and the Whitman County Regional SWAT team.

The Moscow Police Department asked people to leave Theophilus Tower on the University of Idaho campus and avoid the area this afternoon because of an inmate who walked away from a job site.

The police posted on Facebook at 4:12 p.m. today that authorities are searching for Wayland Savage, 34, a 6-foot-2 white male who was last seen wearing dark pants and a black T-shirt. He is an Idaho Department of Correction inmate who is in prison for burglary and grand theft, according to the Facebook post.
