A Moscow Middle School student was hit by a car around 3:15 p.m. Monday while walking home from school.
Moscow Police Chief David Duke said the 12-year-old girl was walking in the crosswalk on the south side of the Mountain View and D Street intersection when she was struck by a van turning left.
Duke said the 33-year-old female driver said she couldn't see the girl because of another vehicle that had just traveled through the intersection. When the driver turned left behind it, the girl was in the crosswalk. Police cited the driver with failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Duke said the girl had no broken bones or major internal injuries. She was transported to Gritman Medical Center and Duke said because of her age, she would be airlifted to Spokane for a CT scan as a precaution.
