Kenneth Niel Gunderson, 48, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023, at home in Moscow.
He attended Moscow High School and Chugiak High School, Alaska, graduating in 1994.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1994 and retired in 2016. He did three tours in Iraq. He proudly served as a 19D Cavalry Scout in the Army, retiring as a sergeant first class. He currently worked at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories.
Niel lived in Rathdrum, Idaho; Moscow; Eagle River, Alaska; and several Army posts. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and four wheeling. He also enjoyed working on anything he could get his hands on.
Niel is survived by Kichana, his fiancee, and their daughter Sara and her son Logan, as well as his children Isabella, Elizabeth and Joshua. He is survived by his parents, Ken and MarJean, and his three brothers: Jamie, Ryan (Christy) and Rick (Ana). Niel also has numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and his grandmother.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday. April 14, at the Moscow Cemetery. Short’s Funeral Chapel of Moscow is in charge of the arrangements and condolences may be left at shortsfuneralchapel.com.
