Why do politics get in the way of something as important as medical care? (Our View, Jan. 31)

Medical care costs huge amounts of money: enter politics.

We can do something to protect medical care: call, write or visit our elected officials and tell them medical care should not be cut, whether under the guise of a tax break for the rich, or by not creating long term funding for programs like the Child Health Insurance Program and local medical clinics.

America's public health funding has also been cut over the years, leaving us open to epidemics on the local level. Our calls, letters, and visits can help end these cuts and strengthen this important line of defense for all Americans.
