You see, I’ve never been a big comic strip reader. Oh, occasionally, during Charles Shulz’ watch, I would read Peanuts.
When I was 7 years old, Peanuts even originated my dog’s name. No, not Snoopy. My dachshund answered to Peanuts. Not until the Daily News did I read comics more than occasionally.
I’ve always liked The DNs comics. So, just what initiated my interest?
Therein lies the rub. Laugh if you’d like, but no hate mail please.
It was 9 Chickweed Lane. Okay I’ve done it. Stuck my finger in the fan. Why was Chickweed alluring? I’d rather not say.
What then took Chickweed’s place? Breaking Cat News. Breaking Cat News! You’ve gotta be kiddin’ me.
Oh please, please I beg you! Bring back 9 Chickweed Lane.
