Branen piece selected as Farmers Market poster art for 2024

Julia Branen’s piece, “The Market,” has been selected to serve as artwork for the 2024 Moscow Farmers Market poster.

Branen’s design received 691 of 1,558 votes in public voting across a three-week period. Branen was among five finalists in the annual poster art contest.

The artwork will be accepted to the City of Moscow Portable Art Collection and posters will be available at the city information tent during market hours. Branen will make an appearance to sign posters during the first month of the market, which opens May 4 and will run through October.

In other poster news, the 2024 Moscow Renaissance Fair will reveal its poster design from 3-4 p.m. Saturday in the back room of Mikeys Gyros, 527 S. Main St., Moscow. Light refreshments will be provided and the artist will be available to sign posters. The entire collection of previous posters will be on display.

United Way grants application sought

The United Way of Whitman County will open grant applications for nonprofits serving Whitman County residents April 16 at whitmanunited.org. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. May 13 by email grants@whitmanunited.org.

The grant process includes documentation and a description of the impacts to the community and all eligible organizations will give a 10-minute presentation of the goal and grant request.

In-person presentations will be held from June 10-12 and funding notifications will take place the week of June 17. For more information visit whitmanunited.org/apply-for-funds.
